We are actively looking for presenters who are reliable, proactive, and dedicated, and able to dedicate a minimum of 1 hour per week from our studios in Torquay. If you have a passion for music and radio, whether you are just starting out in your career path, looking to gain a new skillset or even just closing a gap on your CV, then this role could be for you! No experience necessary as training will be provided.

Why we want you

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, they help enhance our patient and visitor experience, and music and radio can really uplift the spirits of both patients and staff. As a Torbay Hospital Radio (THR) volunteer you will be assisting the radio in keeping its vital service running 24/7/ on a 365 day operation.

What you will be doing
  • Planning/presenting/co-presenting radio content (for at least 1 hour show per week)
  • Following the charity’s broadcasting policies and guidelines
  • Help promote the services of Torbay Hospital Radio
  • Help promote the services and/or messages of Torbay Hospital, NHS, and PHE
  • Help lift the spirts/improve the wellbeing of patients and staff with music and chat
  • Attending charity meetings
  • Attending and assisting with outside broadcasting events & assisting with fundraising for the charity
The skills you need
  • Computer literate, with sociable telephone skills, and has a fluent level of English Sociable telephone skills
  • A passion for music and/or radio
  • Understanding of confidentiality & respect towards our listeners
  • Willing to undertake relevant training & to learn and ask for help when needed
  • An enthusiastic & proactive nature with passion for creating a better future for the charity
  • Some experience of fundraising and running events (although not essential)
  • Good knowledge of the local area
