Come and be part of our amazing team as a Way Finder volunteer. We are looking for welcoming and enthusiastic people to volunteer with us and give their time at Torbay Hospital. In this role you will provide a helping hand and warm and friendly face to our patients, visitors, staff and volunteers around the site.

Why we want you

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, they help enhance our patient and visitor experience. The hospital is currently undergoing a major refit and departments are being moved around to accommodate this. Your support and time in guiding and providing a welcoming place will help people feel less overwhelmed and more relaxed.

What you will be doing
  • Welcoming patients and visitors to the site
  • Providing directions and accompanying patients and visitors to their desired locations across the hospital
  • Communicating to staff and volunteers
  • Supporting work experience students on placement as way finder navigator
  • If trained; assisting patients and visitors with wheelchairs
The skills you need
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Genuine interest in people, and ability to be part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, & discreet
  • Welcoming and friendly attitude
  • Positive outlook and non-judgemental
  • Be able to commit to regular volunteering shifts for a minimum of 6 months
  • Aged 18+ due to changes within The Young People at Work Act 1996
